Business name generator

Tell us what your company does and MozOut AI suggests names. Each one arrives with its domain already checked, so you do not fall in love with a name you cannot use.

The right name starts with a good description

Thinking of names…

From description to domain, in four steps

Interweb

It is everything the tool above does, in order — and the fourth step is the only one that costs money

1. Describe it

Two or three lines are enough. Say what you sell, to whom and where: the more concrete you are, the better the names that come out.

2. Pick a style

Nine styles, nine results. Compound is the safest, Creative leaves the most domains free, Cultural says you are from here.

3. Get twelve

Each name arrives with its domain already checked at the registry, and with the price. Free or taken, it shows on the line.

4. Secure it

Domains go to whoever arrives first. Add the ones you like to the list and take them all at once — the same list as the registration page.

A good name answers four questions

Interweb

Before you pick one from the list, read it out loud and ask it these four

  • Can you say it on the phone?

If you have to spell it every time somebody asks, the name will cost you customers for years.

  • Is there one spelling?

A name with two plausible spellings sends people to the wrong site — or to somebody else’s.

  • Does it fit in five years?

«Ana’s Cakes» closes the door on savoury food and catering. A narrow name forces a rename.

  • Is it free where it matters?

The name, the domain and the handle. The domain you see here; the trademark is registered with IPI, in Maputo.

The nine styles, and when to use each

Interweb

The same business gives very different names depending on the style you pick. Try two or three before deciding

Compound

Two real words together: «Stone and Fire». The safest of the nine, and the one that leaves the most domains free.

Minimalist

One short, clean word. Easy to say and to remember — and the domain is almost never free. That is the price of simple.

Descriptive

The name says what happens inside. Good for people searching by service, awkward if you later sell something else.

Creative

Invented or blended words. They mean nothing — and that is exactly what makes them yours, and easy to register.

Cultural

Roots, places and words from here. It says where the company is from before it says what it sells, and that counts.

Foreign

Words from another language, usually Italian, French or Latin. They work well in food, fashion and beauty.

Inspiring

Names that promise a path or a destination. Training, health, consulting — anywhere you are selling trust.

Playful

Puns and wordplay. It wins people over quickly; use it carefully where customers expect seriousness.

Rhyming

Rhyme, alliteration, repeated sound. It sticks in the ear and does not leave, which is the point.

Six names everybody knows

Interweb

And the trick behind each one — the same trick the generator uses when it hands you twelve

Creative

Netflix

"internet" + "flicks", English slang for films. Two words cut and glued that mean nothing at all — and that is what makes them registrable everywhere.

Cultural

Nike

The Greek goddess of victory. The word had been around three thousand years; what the brand did was find it where nobody was looking, and keep it without asking.

Foreign

Lego

From "leg godt" — "play well", in Danish. Two words from another language, cut down to four letters any child in the world says right the first time.

Minimalist

Volvo

"I roll", in Latin. Five letters and one sound. It says what the product does without ever naming the product: no car, no engine, no road appear in the name.

Compound

Moza Banco

Two halves pushed together, "Moza" and "Banco", each recognisable on its own. That is the compound style: nothing new, everything familiar, and read right first time.

Descriptive

Mozal

It joins what it makes — "alumínio", aluminium — to where it makes it: "Mozambique". The most direct form of the descriptive style, and it needs no explaining.

You picked a name. Now secure it.

Interweb

A name is only yours once it is registered. Until then it is free for everyone

  • The domain today, in minutes, here

    • It is the fastest and cheapest of the three steps — and the only one you lose in a day if somebody else gets there first.
    • An Mozambican business on a .co.mz tells visitors the company is from here, and it is the extension an Mozambican customer tries first.
    • If the .co.mz is taken, the same name is usually free in another extension. Do not throw the name away over that.
    • Take a Web Hosting plan and the first year of the domain is free.

  • Trademark and handles what this page does not do for you

    • The domain protects the address; the trademark protects the name. They are different things, registered in different places.
    • In Mozambique, trademark registration is done at IPI — the Instituto da Propriedade Industrial, in Maputo (ipi.gov.mz). Not here, and not with us.
    • Before ordering signage, check there that the name is free. It is cheaper to find out now.
    • Reserve the same name on Instagram and Facebook, even if you only start posting months from now.

Why do we ask for 100 characters?

Because «dental clinic» is thirteen letters and says nothing about who you work for, where you are, or what sets you apart from the clinic down the road — and names drawn from that all come out the same. Write as if you were explaining the business to somebody who has never been in: what you do, who for, and what is only found there. The word that gives you the right name is usually in exactly what you have not written yet.

Why do the names change every time?

Because they are meant to. Every time you press «Generate more» you get twelve names you have not seen yet for the same description — the generator remembers what it already showed you and asks for others. If you find one you like, copy it or add its domain to the list before generating again: the list is kept and travels with you to the cart, the names on screen do not.

F.A.Q Business name generator

Interweb

Below are the questions we are asked most often by people choosing a company name

It is. Generate as many times as you like, with no account and no card. You only pay if you decide to register the domain for one of the names.

No, and it matters to understand why. The generator suggests; ownership comes from registration. The domain is registered here in minutes. The trading name and the trademark are registered with IPI — the Instituto da Propriedade Industrial, in Maputo — and that is what stops another company from using the same one. Outside Mozambique it is the equivalent body in the country where you will be selling. Before ordering signage, check there that it is free.

Do not throw the name away over that. The same name is usually free in another extension — and an Mozambican business on a .ao says more than on somebody else's .com. Use «other extensions» on the name's row to see where it is free.

It uses it to suggest names. We keep the description and the names that came out — to improve the generator, and to give you different names if you repeat the same idea. We do not ask for your name or e-mail, we do not store your internet address, we do not tie any of this to an account, and we neither share nor sell what you write.

They are two different registrations and neither replaces the other. The domain is done here, in minutes, and stops anyone else using the address. The name and trademark are done at IPI — the Instituto da Propriedade Industrial, at Rua Consiglieri Pedroso 165 in Maputo — and that is what stops another company using the name. You may file it yourself; anyone not domiciled in Mozambique must be represented by an official industrial property agent.

They are suggestions, not a clearance certificate — and the difference can save you money. The generator checks whether the domain is free, and nothing else: it does not search any trademark register anywhere. A name can have a free domain and already belong to somebody as a registered trademark. Before ordering signage or printing cards, check with IPI.

Because «dental clinic» is thirteen letters and says nothing about who you work for, where you are, or what sets you apart from the clinic down the road — and names drawn from that all come out the same. Write two or three lines, as if you were explaining the business to somebody who has never been in.

It is. Every time you press «Generate more» you get twelve names you have not seen yet for the same description. If you want to keep one, copy it or add its domain to the list before generating again — the list stays, the names do not.

No. You can register just the domain and keep it until you decide what to do. Plenty of people do exactly that: secure the address the day they choose the name, and deal with the site months later.

Then what you need is the address, not the name: use the AI domain name generator, which suggests addresses from the same description, or go straight to domain registration and type what you have already chosen.

No, and it never will without you. What it does is ask the registry whether the domain is free and show you the price. Registering is your decision: add the ones you want to the list, confirm what you are buying, and pay. Until you do, the name stays free — for you and for everybody else.

Three things, in this order of urgency. First the domain, while it is free: it is the only one of the three you can lose in a day. Then IPI, to confirm the name is free as a trademark. Finally the social handles, to reserve the same name. The website and the e-mail come after — those can wait, and we are here for them.
